Aerated concrete blocks have the following advantages:
1. Physical performance
- Lightweight
- The dry bulk density of aerated concrete blocks is generally between 300-800kg/m³, which is much lighter than traditional clay bricks (with a density of about 1600-1800kg/m³). This makes it easier for workers to handle and operate during construction. For example, in the construction of high-rise buildings, using aerated concrete blocks as wall materials can reduce the weight of the building, reduce the pressure on the foundation and structural framework.
- For places with strict restrictions on building weight, such as the renovation of old buildings or the construction of houses on soft soil foundations, lightweight aerated concrete blocks are an ideal choice. It can effectively avoid problems such as foundation settlement caused by the excessive weight of the building.
- Appropriate strength
- Its compressive strength is generally between 2.5-10MPa, which can meet the load-bearing requirements of building walls. For non-load-bearing walls, aerated concrete blocks with lower strength can fully meet the requirements. For example, in residential buildings, aerated concrete blocks are used for internal partition walls, which can ensure the stability of the walls while bearing their own weight and a certain degree of lateral pressure (such as furniture leaning).
- For load-bearing wall parts with special requirements, the corresponding load-bearing capacity standards can also be achieved by reasonable structural design and the selection of aerated concrete blocks with higher strength grades.
- Good thermal insulation performance
- Aerated concrete blocks contain a large number of uniformly distributed tiny pores, which form an effective thermal insulation layer. Its thermal conductivity is usually between 0.1-0.2W/(m·K), much lower than that of traditional solid clay bricks (thermal conductivity is about 0.8-1.0W/(m·K)).
- In cold regions, using aerated concrete blocks as external wall materials can effectively reduce the transfer of indoor heat to the outside and reduce the heating energy consumption of buildings. In hot regions, it can prevent the transfer of outdoor heat to the indoors, play a role in heat insulation, and help maintain comfortable and stable indoor temperatures.
- Excellent sound insulation performance
- Due to the porous structure inside the aerated concrete blocks, sound will be continuously reflected and refracted at the pore interface during the propagation process, thereby attenuating the energy of the sound. Its sound insulation can generally reach 30-50 decibels.
- In buildings with high requirements for noise control, such as residential buildings, schools, and hospitals, using aerated concrete blocks as partition wall materials can effectively isolate the sound between adjacent rooms, reducing noise interference between the living room and bedroom, and between the ward and corridor.
